What are thoughts?

For better and worse, here’s some facts and observations about your industrial rescue industry… 1. On average ERT members only receive approximately 12 days of skills training per year once fully qualified. 2. Most ERT members don’t have their skills logged, tracked and monitored beyond their national accreditations through their USI data. 3. Little to no oversight exists for emergency management audit systems to scope, deliver and monitor comprehensive emergency response exercises apart from regulatory spot audits. More can be said and examined however, the first steps to a better and safer industry is collective involvement through better management systems. Then, we can support those who support us on our worst days… the coal face being the capabilities of our ERT members. What are your thoughts?

@JesseMcNeilly a great discussion point mate and an Issue I believe also across all sites. The team are always struggling to get released for training and if they miss one month of a specific discipline they may not touch that still set for 12 months. It's a great question to ask and every sitr should be asking themselves how are we demonstrating competence. Not just attendance. I think mock exercises are great, unfortunately though don't happen enough and when they do everyone usually gets tipped off about them so it's not a true test of your systems. A very interesting g topic mate and would be great to see what others are thinking and ideas to move forward. Can we run quick frequent mor inf sessions, just mike half an hour to do a hose drill, or build a pullet system? Can we have something along the lines of a CDp line the medical staff do?

Agreed mate, management must take into account that there needs to be more training if they expect the ert to perform to a high level, iv seen the level of ignorance increase over the years with the attitude of ert is a least resource and so management provide little to no help. But then expect the ert to do more than they are trained for.
