WHAT?: Mentor Mates, offers our users validated industry professionals who are willing and able to provide non-prescriptive advice, share supportive measures and much more. If you see this a member with this profile picture, they have been vetted and are willing and able to support any public or private questions you may have. So reach out to them then in one-on-one or group chats you can create and fire away 💥 WHY?: We’re doing this to help shift the paradigm of institutional isolation, undergoing intensive training - followed by minimal training sessions, a lack of support and communication across the board, break away from the norms of unsecured and public social platforms leading to suboptimal behaviours. The research shows that we need more and now we will deliver whilst continually monitoring, improving and supporting our mates with a systematic and moral approach with your best interests at heart. WHO?: We’re all about community at Rescue Connect, so why not expand the utility of the application through quality and experienced mates that want to see you thrive! Our mentors are highly experienced people with a vast level of industry experience that are vetted and pass the ‘good person test’. They have been shown to be supporting industry without the expectation of monetary gain. In short, they care about quality and will go above and beyond to help others. Think of this as a teaser for whats to come… All Rescue Connect Mentor Mates MUST: - Have a minimum of 10 years industry experience - Hold a departmental or, organisational background beyond industrial rescue - Be current or, former business owners, technicians, researchers and/or trainers - Pass and be accepted into our onboarding process that validates their backgrounds - Be supportive and willing to help members beyond their own interests, egos and biases - Support any query with ZERO vested outcome other than to help our members learn, share and grow - Build quality content that demonstrates our values (validated and clearly defined) As we grow Mentor Mates, you will start to see new features and options coming through Rescue Connect to support our people and industry. SIDE NOTE: If you haven’t noticed already, I designed Rescue Connect to challenge the social norms observed in our rescue community. It’s not all bad, in fact, it’s amazing and a pretty special place. Though we do have some average and isolated behaviours out there - we will support industry to help improve it over time, this is what we all need. We must treat all our teammates with respect and support. If we don’t agree or like something, we’re all empowered (or should be) to question, research and adopt better ways of doing things in a reciprocal and safe way through best practice and in a supportive manner. That’s a big part of OUR obligation and shared mission. In time, we will see more improved systems for wider industry governance and hopefully a more transparent industry. This is part of that journey.
