Hi All
One of my respected peers and I had a discussion about our mining/industrial sectors of emergency response and management. One topic was the amazing variances in salaries, allowances etc…
A key idea that I’d like to share is that We really don’t really have a good members association that can benchmark a fair “award” or create a fair comparison in what we do.
Disclaimer-
The ESO/Responder/Medic industry in Aus is so varied- YES- it’s a bloody hard task to compare.
Yes- it comes down to companies as well.
No- I don’t expect to change the world.
Yes, I respect AHPRA is there with Paramedics/Nurses etc.
So idea for thought-
Is it worth setting up an Australian Professional Emergency Responders Association (OR what groups are there already?) for anyone to join that has a role outside of government mandated agencies. (No discrimination- but Police all have their own associations, govt firies etc)
This would be- Fred works at mine or plant XYZ, and has membership and proof, and then we provide newsletters, PD opportunities etc- that everyone can use for their own development records.
Brain storming will be required for rules of membership, eligibility, roles and procedures, and of course the big one-
How do we classify a responders?
Eg- a “typical” surface mine ESO- Cert4 medic/healthcare or equivalent, Cert4 ERR or equivalent, etc…
Please no terrible bagging- but open to ideas?
Many Thanks for your time and all of you for your efforts on your sites!
