Wassssssssup legends!
I am employed on a FIFO basis as an Emergency Services Officer. Our volunteer training sessions occur every Sunday, covering various topics such as Fire, Rope Rescue, Breathing Apparatus, and Road Crash Rescue. However, we consistently encounter challenges, such as restrictions on lighting fires at the training grounds or limitations on conducting rope rescue exercises at heights.
I have made efforts to replicate these scenarios without directly engaging in them. My inquiry to you experienced individuals is: "How do you address similar challenges in your training sessions?" I am open to suggestions and eager to explore alternative training methods. Specifically, I am seeking ideas for Fire and Rope Rescue training.
Currently, our team practices setting up rope systems and tying knots in a classroom setting. Additionally, we have arranged a setup where a dummy can be hauled and lowered using a redirect off the top of a shed. Unfortunately, no one has been able to physically engage with the rope due to existing constraints.
While we are working towards obtaining approval for more hands-on activities, I would greatly appreciate your insights and assistance in the meantime. Thank you in advance for your input!
